Program Overview
There is a growing demand for engineeringprofessionals who are capable of applying combined engineering disciplines.Traditionally, graduate education in the United States has focused oncreating specialists - people who can advance the frontiers of knowledge in anarrow field. However, the best solutions to technical problems increasinglyfall outside the confines of any one discipline. Some of the greatest advancesin engineering yet to come will be the result of cross-disciplinary applicationof technology.
MSOE's Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) program is aninterdisciplinary engineering program with primary emphases in the areas ofelectrical engineering (EE) and mechanical engineering (ME). A key component ofthe MSE program is the breadth of engineering background that students gain inareas of systems engineering, EE and ME. Additionally, each student is offeredsome degree of concentration through the selection of an engineering option andelectives. Instead of a thesis requirement, the MSE program culminates in asix-credit capstone engineering project.
