Men’s Cross Country Wins Conference Championship
SCHILLER PARK, Ill.—With seven runners finishing in the top 25 positions, MSOE ran away with their first Northern Athletics Conference men’s cross country title. MSOE has now won 10 straight conference championships, spanning from the now disbanded Lake Michigan Conference and now continuing in the NAC.
Top finisher for MSOE with a time of 26:37.5 was senior Dominic Maio (Racine, Wis./ Prairie School), finishing the 8 kilometer course in fourth place.
Other point getters for the Raiders include sophomore Zach Lutz (West Allis, Wis./ Nathan Hale), (27:42.0, 8th), junior Tim Carlson (Oneida, Wis./Pulaski) (0:28:07.4, 9th), sophomore Jay Stasiak (28:29.3. 13th) and junior Ben Bichler (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge)(28:43.0, 17th).
Head coach Larry Gardner was honored by the conference being named the NAC coach of the year. MSOE’s 51 points was 25 points lower than second place Concordia-Wisconsin, followed by Aurora (83, 3rd), Rockford (88, 4th) and Wisconsin Lutheran (104, 5th) rounding out the top 5 of 12 teams participating.
