Women’s Cross Country Place Third at NAC Championships

SCHILLER PARK, Ill.—Behind the senior leadership of Heather DeLany (West Bend, Wis./West Bend) and Leah Leja (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski), the MSOE women’s cross country team placed third in their first Northern Athletics Conference Championships. DeLany finished the 6 kilometer course with time of 24.27.0, placing fifth and garnering All Conference honors. This is DeLany’s third all-conference award in her four year MSOE career. Leja, a 4-year women’s soccer star, also ran well at the meet, placing 10th with a time of 24.55.0.Other scorers for the Raiders include senior Libby Nowak (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski), (26:13.2. 22nd), freshman Emily Schmeling (Milwuakee, Wis./ Milwaukee School of the Arts) (26:27.9, 25th) and senior Becky Schermerhorn (Fon du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran Academy) (26:54.2, 32nd).


Concordia-Wisconsin won the event with a low score of 47, followed by Aurora (80, 2nd place), MSOE (94, 3rd), Wisconsin Lutheran (101, 4th) and Benedictine (145, 5th) in the 13 team field.
