River Forest, Ill.--The MSOE Raiders women’s soccer team came on strong in the last ten minutes of the game, but could not score, as the Dominican University Stars held on to secure a 2-0 victory and advance  to the second round of the Northern Athletic Conference playoffs.

MSOE’s last major attack was a header by Junior forward Leah Kutz (Milwaukee, Wis./ Rufus King) in the 87th minute of play, but the shot was stopped by Dominican goalkeeper Jacqui Lani.

Dominican got on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute of play by a Dulce Melo flick, off a corner kick. Mary Hoemeyer added a second goal for the Stars in the 70th minute of play. Dominican went on to outshoot MSOE, 17-11.

The Raiders, the sixth seed in the tournament, finished the season with a 9-7-3 overall record in their first season in the conference
