Georgakas, Cook and Murphy Highlight Banquet Award Winners

The MSOE athletic department held their annual banquet on Monday at the Kern Center. The male and female winners of the Student Athlete of the Year and Scholar Student Athlete of the Year awards were announced. Vickie Georgakas won both the Student Athlete and the Scholar Student Athlete awards on the women's side. Spencer Cook won the Scholar Student Athlete award while Scott Murphy was named the Student Athlete of the Year on the men's side.
Georgakas is a four-year member of the Raiders women's soccer team. She was named Second Team All-NAC for the 2007 season. Georgakas scored 40 goals during her four seasons playing for MSOE. She was also named All-Lake Michigan Conference during the 2005 season.
Cook was named as a second team selection to the ESPN The Magazine CoSida Academic All-America team. He played four years for the men's soccer team at MSOE. Cook was a Second Team All-NAC selection during the 2007 season. He scored 18 goals during his career as a Raider. Cook was named to the LMC All-Rookie Team for the 2004 season.
Murphy is a four-year member of the MSOE men's basketball. He was selected to the First Team All-NAC during the 2007-08. Murphy led the Raiders with 14.5 points per game during the past season. He was named All-Conference Honorable Mention during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
