Baseball's Merk receives conference recognition
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Northern Athletics Conference has released its baseball All-Conference awards for the 2008 season and MSOE sophomore third baseman Michael Merk (Oakfield, Wis./Oakfield) was named as an honorable mention selection. Merk, a 6'1" architectural engineering major, was the only Raider chosen to the All-NAC squad, which was voted on by the head coaches of the NAC.


Merk was tied for third place in the NAC with nine doubles and was fifth in doubles per game with a 0.41 per game average. He also led the team in batting average (.325), slugging percentage (.447), on base percentage (.420), runs scored (25), doubles (12) and was tied for first with 40 hits on the season. Merk was second on the team in steals (6) and tied for third with 16 runs batted in.

Merk and the Raiders finished the season with an 11-22 overall record, tying for ninth place in the Northern Athletics Conference play with a 6-16 record.
