Fialova wins conference, named Player of the Year

Madison, Wis.-- MSOE junior Martina Fialova defeated two-time Northern Athletics Conference champion Erin Henrich 6-3, 6-0 to claim the number one singles title and Player of the Year honors. MSOE finished in fourth place with 57 points behind team champion Edgewood (96), Aurora (71) and Concordia-Wisconsin (67).
The Raiders also had multiple place winners at the NAC championships. Freshman Carol Smith-Cayo lost in the number three singles final to Hannah Pincsak of Edgewood. Raider's Julie Burg placed third at number five singles and senior Joy Cirilli finished her Raider career placing fourth at number two singles.
In the doubles competition, Fialova and Cirilli placed third at number one doubles, while Burg and Smith-Cayo finished fourth at number two doubles. The Raiders complete the 2008 season 7-3 in NAC play, 7-8 overall.
