Cayo named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

MSOE Raider's Carol Cayo (Lake Mills, Wis. Lake Mills) was named to the first team Academic All District team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors Association. Cayo, a 6-0 sophomore center, is an Industrial Engineering major, carrying a 3.98 grade point average.

Last year, Cayo was a first team All Northern Athletics Conference selection and was the conference Freshman of the Year. Starting and playing in 20 games this season, Cayo is averaging 12.1 points per game, 11.0 rebounds per game, 2.6 blocks, 2.4  assists per game and 2.45 steals per game. Cayo has nine double-doubles on the season. In 2008-09, Cayo was 26th in the nation averaging 2.6 blocked shots per game and 34 among Division III leaders with 1.3 rebounds per game.

The Academic All-America® All-District Teams in both men's and women's basketball for University and College Divisions are conducted and voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs) for men's and women's basketball.

Two Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
