Men's Tennis to Face Carleton in NCAA Regional Friday

The MSOE Raiders men's tennis team, the Northern Athletics Conference champion, will face Carleton College in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Regional on Friday, May 14, at 9 a.m., to be held at Whitewater, Wisconsin.
Kenyon College (OH), 19-6, and Trinity University (TX) are the number one and two seeds in the regional, thus earning a bye in the first round. Trinity will play the Carleton/MSOE winner at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, and Kenyon will play the UW-Whitewater/UW-Eau Claire winner at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The regional final is set for 12:00 p.m. on Sunday
The winner of the Whitewater regional will join seven other regional winners at the final championship series May 25-27 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Carleton (19-3) was crowned the champion of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association, by defeating Gustavus Adolphus by the score of 6-to-3 in their conference playoffs. The Raiders are making their first appearance in the NCAA men's tennis tournament, compiling a 10-5 overall record and winning the NAC championship tournament on May 8-9. MSOE had four champions in the NAC tournament, including Mark Schadler (#5 Singles), Fabian Griebel (#6 Singles), Schadler/Andrew Ohland (#3 Doubles) and Dustin Holzhauer/Zach Weaver (#1 Doubles). This will be the first time the two teams have met.
There is no spectator charge for the tournament. Fans are advised that Saturday is UW-Whitewater's graduation day and parking near the courts will be limited.
UW-Whitewater will use the Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wisconsin as a backup, in the event of inclement weather.
