The Northern Athletics Conference announced that MSOE seniors Mike Brunette (De Pere, Wis.) and Michael Merk (Oakfield, Wis.) were named to the First Team All-Conference for the 2010 baseball season. It is the first time since the days of the Lake Michigan Conference that MSOE had two players receive a first team nod. In 1997, MSOE outfielder Nate Weber and Catcher Matt Kaiser made the All- LMC team.
Brunette led the Raiders with a batting average of .435, an on-base percentage of .535 and 40 RBIs. The MSOE starting catcher also hit three home runs, eight doubles and scored 29 runs.
Merk hit .420 this past season with a .500 on-base percentage. The second baseman led the team with five triples, six home runs and a slugging percentage of .713. Merk had 18 doubles, 33 RBIs and 49 runs. Merk was a NAC honorable mention selection in 2008.
Also receiving conference accolades was senior pitcher Roy Turtenwald, who was a NAC All-Sportsmanship Team selection.
The Raiders finished the season with a 12-27 overall record and a 7-15 mark in NAC play.
