Softball season recap

The MSOE softball team took huge strides forward during the 2010 season as they increased their win total by nine games overall and by five games in Northern Athletics Conference action. The Raiders were 6-22 overall in 2009 with a 4-20 NAC record. In 2010, MSOE improved to 15-17 overall and 9-15 in NAC.

Freshman outfielder Julie Windish (Tinley Park, Ill./Marian Catholic) had a great first season for the Raiders. Windish was second in the NAC in doubles (13), eighth in slugging percentage (.616), tenth in both batting average (.414) and on-base percentage (.458). She led MSOE with 22 RBIs and 27 runs.

Sophomore pitcher Jessica Iversen (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) followed up her solid freshman season with another successful campaign. Iversen was fourth in the NAC in both innings pitched (190.2) and wins (14) and fifth in strikeouts (164). She was second on the Raiders in batting average (.333) and RBIs (20).

Freshman catcher Lianna Campos (Plainfield, Ill/North) was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Campos had a .319 batting average with seven doubles, 17 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .473.

Freshman third baseman Kate Klaubauf (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) led MSOE with four home runs and also had 13 RBIs. Sophomore Elise Pinkerton (Wapella, Ill./Clinton) had a batting average of .301, logged 15 RBIs and led the Raiders with 13 walks. Klaubauf and Pinkerton were tied for second on MSOE with 21 runs each.
