Women's Track & Field season recap

Many members of the MSOE women's track and field team made their presence felt during the 2010 season. The Raiders finished fourth at the Northern Athletics Conference Outdoor Championships and fifth at the Indoor Championships.
At the outdoor event, sophomore Emily Dieringer (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.93 and the 100-meter hurdles at 15.97. Dieringer also won the pole vault at 3.05 meters.
Sophomore Amanda Heller (New Holstein, Wis./New Holstein) took the top spot in the 10,000-meter run and second in both the 5000-meter run and the 3000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Katelyn Herrmann (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) was third in the steeplechase.
Sophomore Carol Cayo (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and tied for sixth in the high jump with freshman Karly Nehls (Deforest, Wis./DeForest) who was second in the triple jump. The women's 4X100-meter relay team finished fifth and the 4X400-meter relay squad was sixth. Freshman Kathleen Keough was fourth in the pole vault.
Senior Kelly Costello (Westchester, Ill./Immaculate Conception) came in sixth in the shot put. Costello's basketball teammate sophomore Marguerite Wellstein (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) was fourth in the javelin throw and seventh in the discus throw.
During the Indoor Championships, Dieringer won two events, the 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles. Dieringer also finished third in the 200-meter dash and pole vault. Heller placed second in both the 5000-meter run and the 3000-meter run.
Freshman Anete Zagare (Grayslake, Ill./Warren Township) finished fourth in the one mile run and Herrmann was fifth in the 3000-meter run.
The MSOE distance medley squad which included Herrmann, sophomore Tanzania Sewell (Milwaukee, Wis./Hamilton), junior Leigh Ann Pochowski (Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) and Zagare came in fourth.
The Raiders came in fifth out of 16 teams at the Tadd Metzger Invite during the indoor season. During the outdoor season, MSOE finished third at the Warrior Relays hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran.
