After taking part in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, the MSOE Raiders men's golf team finished fourth at the 2009 NAC Championship in October. Sophomore Dane Zachman (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa West) finished fourth at the event with a two day score of 154 which was good enough to make the All-NAC team.
The Raiders won the 2007 and 2008 NAC Championships. MSOE had three other players in the top 20. Junior Peter Eich (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) tied for 13th and sophomore Elias Macias Simeon (Mexico City, Mexico/Westminster) and senior Sam Meyers (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) both tied for 18th.
The Raiders finished fifth at the NAC Spring Automatic Qualifier Event in April. Meyers tied for ninth at that event while Zachman was 13th and Macias Simeon was 15th.
Meyers finished in a tie for first at the Ripon College Spring Invite as he was three over par for the two day event. He was eighth at the UW-Parkside Invite in April.
Zachman finished fourth at the Edgewood Invite in September with a two day score of 149 and fourth at the UW-Parkside Invite with score of 75. He was sixth at both the Edgewood College Spring Invitational and Ripon College Spring Invite, both in April.
Freshman Zachary Teague (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) tied for 13th at the Ripon College Spring Invite. Junior Ray Larsen (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) was ninth at the Lawrence Viking Invite with a score of 80 in April.
Macias Simeon finished in ninth place at the 24th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla. in May. He carded rounds of 74, 75 and 76 during the three-day event. Macias Simeon was also named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team. He finished second at the MSOE Invitational with a two day score of 151.
Macias Simeon was among 34 golfers who competed in the Men's Independent division of the event. The event's field included almost 200 athletes from minority-serving institutions and minority students from any college or university.
