No. 11 MSOE hockey defeats Lake Forest to advance to MCHA Harris Cup Four

Freshman forward West Bauman scored twice and senior forward Michael Soik recorded his 100th career point as the No. 11 Raiders beat Lake Forest 6-3 Sunday afternoon in the MCHA quarterfinals at the Kern Center. MSOE now heads to the Harris Cup Four which takes places next weekend in Adrian, Mich.
Early in the first period, Bauman put the Raiders up 1-0 then scored again at the 10:13 mark of the period on a power play. MSOE made it 3-0 when freshman forward Austin Grosvenor found the back of the net at 6:02 of the second period. After Lake Forest picked up their first goal, Soik scored his second goal in as many games.
In the third period, freshman defenseman Michael Thompson and freshman forward Nick Gorup recorded goals to put the game away for the Raiders. Soik and freshman forward Jordan Keizer each logged two assists. Junior goaltender Connor Toomey made 32 saves for MSOE.
