MSOE hockey freshman defenseman Michael Thompson was named MCHA Freshman of the Week for his performance against St. Thomas this past weekend. In Saturday's 5-4 overtime victory, Thompson scored his fourth goal of the season in the third period to tie the game at 4 just after a Raider power play ended.
Thompson also had two assists on Saturday including one where he forced a turnover in his defensive zone to set up a 2-on-1 full-ice rush that led to a goal from sophomore Jordan Keizer. His other assist set up a goal by junior Todd Krupa. Thompson was +4 during the weekend's games.
In this week's USCHO Division III poll, the Raiders are ranked 9th. Their next opponent, Hamline, is tied for 12th. That game will take place in Saint Paul, Minn. Saturday, Jan. 1.
