Diederich, Nehls break own school records at Carroll Invitational

MSOE track and field set two school records at the Carroll University Invitational Saturday in Waukesha, Wis. Senior Kevin Diederich took the top spot in the 110-meter hurdles and bested his MSOE record at 14.97 seconds. He also was first in the discus throw (42.02 meters), second in the high jump (1.8 meters) and third in the javelin throw (46.49 meters). Freshman Mike Cosentino and junior Joe Klimowicz were right behind Diederich in the high jump. Freshman Matt Waech came in third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters.
Sophomore Jordan Werner was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.97 seconds. Sophomore Chris Neja was fourth in that race at 22.46 seconds. Werner also placed second in the 400-meter dash as he ran the event in 49.39 seconds. Sophomore Ben Peterson came in fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.54. The 4x100-meter relay team came in second place at 43.01 seconds which was a couple tenths of a second from a new MSOE record.
Sophomore Karly Nehls bested her school record in the triple jump with a mark of 33 feet and 1.25 inches. Sophomore Katelyn Herrmann was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:20.19. Junior Emily Dieringer finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.92 seconds and placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.84 seconds. She was also fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.75 meters.
MSOE will take part in the Benedictine U. Eagle Invitational Saturday, April 16.
