No. 11 MSOE hockey finishes sweep of Finlandia

For the second straight game, the No. 11 Raiders got goals from five different players as they beat Finlandia 5-1 Saturday afternoon in Hancock, Mich. MSOE scored twice in the first period, two times in the second and once in the third. Junior goaltender Connor Toomey made 22 saves in the victory.
Starting the scoring for the Raiders was freshman forward Ben Lauder who found the back of the net just 1:21 into the game. Late in the first period, senior forward Michael Soik scored his eighth goal of the season and the 49th of his MSOE career. In the second, sophomore forward Mike Pao made it 3-0 and just 31 seconds later freshman forward Steven Shaffroth added another.
Junior forward Todd Krupa finished the scoring for the Raiders with a goal at the 2:05 mark of the third period. Ten different MSOE players logged assists in the game.
The Raiders (13-3-1, 10-1-1 MCHA) finish their six-game stretch of road games Friday against Lawrence in Appleton, Wis. at 7 p.m. before heading home to play the Vikings the next day at 3 p.m.
