Toomey garners MCHA weekly honor again, MSOE hockey up to No. 8 in national poll

The Raiders have moved up to No. 8 in the USCHO.com Division III national poll. MSOE will face No. 5 Adrian this Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.) at the Kern Center. Right now, the Raiders and Bulldogs are tied atop the MCHA with identical records of 16-1-1. This weekend's games will determine the regular season MCHA champion.

Junior goalie Connor Toomey was once again named MCHA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance this past weekend during MSOE's sweep of Lake Forest at the Kern Center. Toomey recorded his fourth shutout of the season last Friday against the Foresters. That broke Matt Burzon's school record for shutouts in a single season. Toomey also passed Burzon's mark for wins in a season as he picked up his 15th victory on the year. Saturday, Toomey logged 39 saves in the Raiders' 5-3 victory. He is currently second in the nation in save percentage (.933) and goals against average (1.68). His four shutouts are tied for the most in the country.

Sophomore forward Jordan Keizer scored three goals over the weekend and is tied for the lead in all of Division III in goals with 22. Junior forward Todd Krupa stands 13th in the nation in goals per game. Keizer is tied for second in short-handed goals and tied for seventh in power play goals.

The Raiders lead the nation in scoring defense (1.74) and in penalty kill situations (92.1). MSOE is tied for second in the nation in team winning percentage (.848).
