Three MSOE baseball players earn NAC honors


Three Raiders garnered honors as the Northern Athletics Conference announced their awards for the 2011 baseball season. Junior infielder Mike Ricciardi was named Honorable Mention while freshman outfielder Derek Jordan was selected to the All-Freshman Team. Senior outfielder Jordan Opalewski was picked as a member of the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Ricciardi was 8th in slugging percentage at .589 in NAC games. Also, he was 14th in batting average as he hit at a .393 clip in those games. His .330 batting average for the entire season was second best on the team. Ricciardi drove in 22 runs and had an on-base percentage of .398.

Jordan was tied for sixth in the NAC with four home runs. Also, he was 14th in the conference with a slugging percentage of .488 in all games. Jordan led the Raiders with 33 RBI and was tied for the lead with nine doubles.

Opalewski was tied for the lead in the conference with a perfect fielding percentage as he did not commit an error in 77 chances. He also had two outfield assists on the year.
