MSOE men's track & field wins NAC indoor championship

The Raiders won the men's indoor track and field NAC title Saturday in Naperville, Ill. with 143 points. MSOE is back on top after finishing second the past two years. The Raiders also won the indoor championship in 2008. The women's team placed sixth for MSOE. First place finishers earn All-Conference honors while those who place second and third earn Honorable Mention honors.

On the men's side, the Raiders took the top spot in five events. Senior Kevin Diederich broke his own NAC record in the 55-meter hurdles with a mark of 7.72 seconds. That time also improves his NCAA provisional qualifying time from earlier this year. Diederich came in second in the long jump (6.69 meters) while junior Arthur Weborg was right behind him in third (6.53 meters). MSOE's 4X400 relay team set a new conference record with a time of 3:24.51.

Senior Michael Jasperson won the weight throw with a mark of 15.88 meters. In the pole vault, freshmen Matt Waech and Mike Cosentino finished in the two top spots with Waech coming out in first. Sophomore Jordan Werner won the 55-meter dash at 6.42 seconds and placed second in the 200-meter dash (22.41 seconds). His time in the 55-meter is a new school record and improves his NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Sophomore Ben Peterson came in third in the one-mile run with a mark of 4:33.81. Sophomore Chris Neja was also third in the 400-meter dash at 52.42 seconds.

Junior Emily Dieringer won both the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.02 seconds and the 55-meter hurdles event at 8.89 seconds. Dieringer also placed second in the pole vault at 2.9 meters. In the triple jump, sophomore Karly Nehls finished third at 10.14 meters.
