What do you like about the SE program?
I like the courses offered for the SE major and it's very easy to get one-to-one help. The professors are always willing to assist and are dedicated to helping you be successful. Also, through my experience in my internship, the labs and course work are directly related to real-world work.
Why did you choose SE as your major?
I am strong in math and science, so I knew I wanted to major in engineering. When I was growing up I was exposed to software engineering, as both my parents are software engineers. My dad has shown me many things about software development throughout high school and that was when I realized software engineering really interested me. I also would like to develop applications for cell phones and a software engineering major is a perfect fit for that.
Why did you choose MSOE?
I chose MSOE because of all the great things I heard about the school and the jobs that students get during and after college. The smaller class sizes, courses offered, and the safe campus located in downtown Milwaukee also appealed to me. I attended Women’s Weekend during my senior year of high school and I had the opportunity to sit in on some classes and learn more about MSOE. A few aspects I learned during that weekend helped me in my decision to attend MSOE, such as starting classes in my major during my freshman year. After talking to an engineering manager, MSOE graduates come out of MSOE with practical experience and not just theory.
What type of advice would you give someone who is considering attending MSOE?
I would tell someone that MSOE is a great university for engineering, nursing and business. It is also a great school because you are able to take courses that are specifically for your major your freshman year. Your college experience is what you make of it, and MSOE is a great place to come to college but it is also a fun place to be.
What do you do in your free time?
I work 15 hours a week at Direct Supply as a software engineer intern. When I am not working, I like to hang out with friends, read, be up north, wakeboard, and go turkey hunting with my dad and grandpa.
