Two teams of students were judged the best in the region in both the Commercial Construction and Design-Build categories of the highly competitive Student Construction Management Competition.

The annual contest was held Nov. 6-7 in Downer’s Grove, Ill., as part of the Associated Schools of Construction’s Regional Conference, which was organized by Associated General Contractors of America.

This is the fifth year in a row the Commercial Construction team took first at regionals, and the third time in five years for the Design-Build team. The teams will compete at nationals in spring in Orlando, Fla., where they placed second last year.

Team members are: Darby Rowland, Andrew Slater, Sean O’Gorman, Ryan Lent, Sarah Hanson, Kevin Kaczynski, Veronica Konieczka, Jennifer Scheiding, Chad Beeler, Michael Jahner, Matthew Tadisch, Nicholas Lipinski, Jason LaRosh and Matthew Mehring. Robert Lemke, associate professor, and Michael Emmer, assistant professor, both of MSOE’s Architectural Engineering and Building Construction Department, coach the teams.
