Schwartz and Huset named senior scholar athletes of the year

The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Athletic Department honored Sheila Schwartz (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) and Matt Huset (Prairie Farm, Wis.) as Senior Scholar Athletes of the Year. The award recognizes academics, athletic accomplishment and service to MSOE.

Schwartz is a member of the women’s track and field and cross country teams. Schwartz ended her track and field college career with a first place finish in the 5000-meter event at the Tri-State Conference Tournament. Her victory help lead the women’s track and field team to a second place finish at the tournament. A team captain, she holds the school record for 10,000 meters. Schwartz, an Academic All-American, is enrolled in the industrial engineering program with a 3.41 G.P.A. She is the daughter of Sally and James Schwartz.

Huset was the first men’s NCAA All-American at MSOE, an honor he received by finishing as one of the top eight wrestlers in Division III. He is a four-time Lake Michigan Conference champion and was the Outstanding Wrestler at the 2003 LMC Wrestling Championship. He won 30 consecutive matches this year and broke the school record for most victories (39) in a single season. Huset, a two-time Academic All-American, is enrolled in the mechanical engineering program with a 3.26 G.P.A. He is the son of Lana Hellendrung and Gene Huset.
