Even if the chill of winter hangs on this year, radio station WMSE 91.7 FM will warm things up with a chili cook-off , the Battle of the Bowls, on Sunday, March 30 at Lakefront Brewery. The event is a fund raiser for Milwaukee’s favorite noncommercial station.
Fifteen ordinary but extraordinarily competitive individuals and teams will cook up pots of their best meat chili for the thumbs up or down from the judges such as Heaven City owner Scott McGlinchey and Cameron Roberts of Café Lulu. Plus five area restaurants -- Gils Café, Brewed Awakening, Trocadero, Beans and Barley and Fuel/Comet -- will compete for a People’s Choice Vegetarian Chili award.
The Sawdust Symphony will play live from 2 to 4 p.m.
To compete, entrants must sign up in advance at WMSE and pay a $65 entry fee; call WMSE at (414) 277-7247. Recipes will be accepted for publication.
