Radio station WMSE 91.7 FM will host an all-ages concert March 26 at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) featuring national acts The Mooney Suzuki, The Raveonettes, White Light Motorcade and Longwave.
The CMJ and MTV2 Advance Warning Tour show is presented by WMSE and Nokia.
The Mooney Suzuki is a band with garage agility and ’60s vitality that strives to claim the title of “The Hardest Working Band in Show Business.” Concertgoers will experience Gammon Records band’s electrically legendary live show and be a participant in their conquest to take over the world, rhythm guitar and all.
The Raveonettes’ spontaneous, brassy sound garnered acclaim for its 2002 debut CD, “Whip it On” (Columbia). The Danish duo will pay tribute to “a lot of great music,” according to guitarist/vocalist Sune Rose Wagner. The band’s rules for recording its debut disc included recording solely in the key of B-minor, using no more than three chords, and making songs no longer than three minutes.
Also playing is fierce rock ‘n’ roll foursome White Light Motorcade (Octone Records) and, finally, New York-based Longwave. Longwave’s moody, some say Joy Division-esque debut EP garnered a supporting slot on The Strokes tour. The shaggy-haired foursome’s soon-to-be-released “The Strangest Things” CD (RCA) was produced by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips) and summons the spirit of U2 and Brit pop bands.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at MSOE’s Todd Wehr Auditorium, 1025 N. Broadway (and Highland Avenue). General admission tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at WMSE, 820 N. Milwaukee St., or Atomic Records. For more information, contact WMSE, (414) 277-7247.
