- Local teams shine at MSOE competition (12/18/2003) MSOE's annual Opportunity Conference drew high school teams from throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois to compete and demonstrate excellence in the areas of computers, mathematics and science.
- Seventh annual music show to benefit WMSE (12/08/2003) Some of the finest indie rock talent in the country will come together Saturday, Dec. 13 for the seventh annual A Very Milky Christmas concert sponsored by radio station WMSE 91.7 FM.
- Longtime MSOE supporter and community leader dies (12/01/2003) Greta Werwath Murphy, the only surviving child of MSOEs founder, longtime university supporter and community leader died Nov. 28.
- MSOE honors graduates at Fall 2003 Commencement (11/19/2003) MSOE will celebrate its Fall 2003 Commencement 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
- Mens soccer team garners 14 conference honors and Coach of the Year (11/13/2003) The MSOE men's soccer team earned plenty of respect this season as Jimmy Banks was named the Lake Michigan Conference Coach of the Year and 14 players won conference honors.
- One year to go, Kern Center project hits milestone (11/13/2003) The Kern Center, MSOEs athletics, health and wellness center, is at a major construction milestone and one year from project completion. On Nov. 6, the first of five, 70-ton basketball arena floor trusses was placed.
- Model Lending Library launched (11/13/2003) The Walter Schroeder Library is offering a Model Lending Library in conjunction with the Center for BioMolecular Modeling (CBM).
- High school students test computer, math and science skills (11/13/2003) Hundreds of high school students from Wisconsin and Illinois will converge on campus Nov. 21, 24 and 25.
- The Lovely Bones is a great book (11/13/2003) A Great Books Dinner and Discussion Series event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19.
- MSOE history on view at Historical Society (11/12/2003) An exhibit highlighting MSOE's 100-year history, A New School in a New Century, is now on view at the Milwaukee County Historical Society (910 N. Old World Third St.) and will run through Feb. 1, 2004.
- MSOE students first in construction, design-build competitions (11/12/2003) Two teams of students were judged the best in the region in both the Commercial Construction and Design-Build categories of the highly competitive Student Construction Management Competition.
- MSOE software engineering program is one of first in nation to receive accreditation (10/27/2003) MSOE's Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering recently received accreditation from Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). It is one of the first software engineering programs in the country to receive this accreditation.
- Cappiello celebrates 20 years of financial forecasts for business leaders (10/24/2003) Renowned financial analyst Frank Cappiello will commemorate two decades of MSOEs Bottom Line Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at the Hyatt Regency-Milwaukee (333 W. Kilbourn Ave.). The Bottom Line Breakfast, which benefits MSOEs Rader School of Business, is co-sponsored by MSOE and Fiduciary Management Inc.
- New faculty members join MSOE (10/21/2003) MSOE has welcomed a number of faculty to campus this fall.
- MSOE Mens Golf takes first in LMC championship (10/14/2003) The MSOE mens golf team claimed its 10th Lake Michigan Conference championship, edging out second place Edgewood College by a single stroke.
- Gallery Night to feature MSOE exhibit on evolution of work (10/10/2003) MSOE's recently acquired art collection, Man at Work, will be a featured exhibition during the city-wide Fall Gallery Night and Day Oct. 24 and 25.
- MSOE library hosts rare books exhibit (10/01/2003) Now through Nov. 26, a group of rare first- and early-edition texts about human liberty and dignity will be on view and available for reading at MSOE's Walter Schroeder Library.
- MSOE faculty honored with outstanding teaching awards (09/19/2003) MSOE recently honored Dr. Joseph Musto and Sally Cissna with outstanding teaching awards.
- Great Books are inspiration for great meals (09/11/2003) MSOE has announced its book selections for this years popular Great Books Dinner and Discussion Series. In its eighth year, the monthly evenings have become a local literary experience.
- MSOE again ranks high on U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges engineering list (08/22/2003) MSOE again ranks on the U.S. News & World Report annual Best Colleges list in several categories.
- Clem Snide plays all-ages show at MSOE (07/31/2003) New York-based quartet Clem Snide brings its slow-tempo, country-tinged pop to MSOE 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. The all-ages WMSE show includes Andrew Bird and The Muldoons.
- Student wrap up summer research at MSOE (07/28/2003) Nine students from around the country are wrapping up Research Experience for Undergraduates, a National Science Foundation-funded program at MSOE.
- Wi-Fi zone now just outside MSOEs door (07/28/2003) Today, Milwaukee launched a much-anticipated Free Wi-Fi Network at Cathedral Square Park -- just off the MSOE campus. Milwaukee is one of the first cities in the country to turn popular downtown public spaces into wireless hot zones.
- Expert to discuss Einsteins impact on science and culture (07/16/2003) Professor Hanoch Gutfreund, an internationally recognized scientist and former president of Hebrew University, will give a presentation about Albert Einstein, his science, and his Zionism at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at MSOE. It is a prelude to a major Einstein exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago.
- Alumni reunion flavored by 100 year history (07/09/2003) MSOEs annual alumni reunion, Summer in the City, will take a Centennial theme, as MSOE celebrates its 100th anniversary. The reunion weekend, July 11-13, is packed with campus activities, including the dedication of the MSOE mall to founder Oscar Werwath.
- MSOE part of Wisconsin Private College Week (07/08/2003) For the seventh straight year, MSOE and Wisconsins 19 other private colleges and universities, will hold open house throughout the week-long event, offering guided campus tours and giving students and their families.
- Summer programs help teens focus on the future (07/08/2003) This summer, high school students from across the country will converge on MSOEs campus for two programs that help them focus on their future plans while having fun becoming an engineer or business professional for a week.
- Concrete canoe team takes 8th in nationals (07/01/2003) A team of MSOE students finished 8th overall out of a field of 24 at the National Concrete Canoe Competition held in June in Philadelphia, a great showing for MSOEs first bid in this event.
- MSOE to receive Kiwanis Milwaukee Award (06/06/2003) The Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee will present its annual Kiwanis Milwaukee Award to MSOE on June 18, in recognition of the university's long history of superior educational performance and the benefits it has bestowed on the city of Milwaukee.
- High school teams wrap-up unique biomolecular projects (06/02/2003) High school students and their teachers who have collaborated with MSOE's Center for BioMolecular Modeling will present what they've learned 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4.
- Spring 2003 commencement celebrates graduates, university centennial (06/02/2003) Nearly 400 graduates received degrees this spring from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). The centennial-year ceremony -- one of the universitys largest in its history -- was held Saturday, May 24.
- Lewis and USA Athletics International take gold in Arafura Games (05/29/2003) MSOE student and former star forward Adam Lewis (Lynwood, Ill.) helped USA Athletes International Basketball team win the gold medal at the Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia. Lewis, a double major in architectural engineering and construction management, was a driving force both offensively and defensively in the championship game.
- Senior trade official to visit Milwaukee, MSOE (05/28/2003) Grant Aldonas, under secretary of commerce for international trade, U.S. Department of Commerce, will lead a roundtable discussion on manufacturing issues from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the MSOE Todd Wehr Conference Center.
- Food-sampling supports WMSE radio (05/15/2003) A dozen restaurants and beverage vendors will cook their favorite dishes for the second annual WMSE Food Slam on 7-10 p.m. Saturday, May 17
- Heads of Harley and Rockwell Automation to deliver (05/13/2003) The chairmen and CEOs of centenarian companies Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley and Harley-Davidson will speak to graduates at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Spring Commencement.
- Faculty and staff receive awards (05/13/2003) Several MSOE faculty and staff recently were recognized for their distinguished service to the university.
- Schwartz and Huset named senior scholar athletes of the year (05/08/2003) The MSOE Athletic Department honored Sheila Schwartz and Matt Huset as Senior Scholar Athletes of the Year in recognition of their academics, athletic accomplishment and service to MSOE.
- MSOE sinks a second place finish in concrete canoe contest (05/08/2003) A team of MSOE students placed second in the regional Concrete Canoe Competition held May 1-3 in Evansville, Ind. The team advances to the national competition this summer at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
- Mens track and field takes first at Tri-State Tournament (05/07/2003) The MSOE mens track and field team won the Tri-State Conference Tournament; the MSOE women, with a limited roster, recorded a second-place finish.
- School of Nursing recognizes National Nurses Week (05/06/2003) Join MSOE School of Nursing in celebration of the nursing profession with National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and Florence Nightingale's birthday on the 12th.
- MSOE announces faculty promotions (04/30/2003) MSOE has announced faculty promotions in its Physics and Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, General Studies and Architectural Engineering and Building Construction Departments.
- MSOE acquires art collection representing history of labor and industry in art (04/30/2003) Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) announced today the acquisition of a collection of nearly 450 European and American paintings and sculptures that depict various forms of work. Man at Work: The Eckhart G. Grohmann Collection at Milwaukee School of Engineering is one of the world's more comprehensive collections of its kind.
- WMSE wins WAMI President Award (04/30/2003) Radio station WMSE received the prestigious President Award from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) for its outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
- MSOE mens tennis wins conference championship (04/29/2003) The MSOE mens tennis team is the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) Champion following the tournament in Kohler, Wis. Larry Gagnon was named LMC Coach of the Year.
- Team takes second in international fire-fighting robot contest (04/22/2003) A team of MSOE electrical engineering students took second place in the Expert Division of the international Trinity College Fire-Fighting Robot Contest.
- Colleges stage machine contest for high school students (04/21/2003) MSOE is co-hosting Wisconsin high school students who will compete in the popular Rube Goldberg "wacky" machine-building competition Friday, April 25.
- Two MSOE teams take second in national construction management contest (04/10/2003) Two teams of undergraduate students from MSOE's construction management program both took second in the National Construction Management Student Competition held April 2-5 in Dallas.
- Sci-fi and gaming show returns to MSOE (04/10/2003) MSOEs student gaming club, MAGE, is hosting the third annual Concinnity 2003 science fiction and gaming show Saturday and Sunday, April 12 (8 a.m.-11 p.m.) and 13 (8 a.m.-6 p.m.) at MSOEs Student Life and Campus Center, 1025 N. Broadway.
- Mechanical engineering professor receives national SAE award (04/08/2003) Dr. John Lumkes Jr., an MSOE mechanical engineering professor, was one of nine educators nationally to receive the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) award for outstanding teaching ethics and contributions to academic excellence.
- Girl Scouts to check out career options (04/03/2003) More than 300 Girl Scouts will check out a wide variety of career options -- from aerospace engineering and firefighting to banking -- at the Virtual Career Day April 5 at MSOE.
- MSOE health fair offers screenings and information to community (04/01/2003) MSOEs annual health and wellness fair on Thursday, April 3 will give the MSOE community and visitors a chance to receive several free health screenings and information.
- MSOE to break ground for its first athletics facility in 100 year history (03/24/2003) MSOE will break ground April 11 for The Kern Center, a privately funded, $31 million recreation, athletic, health and wellness facility.
- Patron of engineers gets top billing again at MSOE (03/17/2003) St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers, so the students at MSOE will again celebrate the holiday in the customary fashion -- a week of green, white and orange.
- Wrestling team again has top GPA in nation (03/13/2003) For the second year in a row, the MSOE wrestling team received a national academic award for having the highest grade point average in the nation.
- WMSE Battle of the Bowls to crown chili king or queen (03/11/2003) Radio station WMSE 91.7 FM will warm things up with the Battle of the Bowls chili cook-off on Sunday, March 30 at Lakefront Brewery.
- Wrestler take 8th at nationals and is named All-American (03/10/2003) Senior Matt Huset became the first MSOE wrestler and mens athlete to become an NCAA All-American after finishing in eighth place at the Division III National Championship tournament. He and Matt Schoenherr were both named Academic All-Americans and the MSOE team had its best finish, placing 35th in the nation.
- Advance Warning tour hits MSOE (03/10/2003) Radio station WMSE 91.7 FM will host an all-ages concert March 26 at MSOE featuring national acts The Mooney Suzuki, The Raveonettes, White Light Motorcade and Longwave. The CMJ and MTV2 Advance Warning Tour show is presented by WMSE and Nokia.
- Basketball championship bid ends; wrestlers look to nationals this weekend (03/07/2003) MSOE mens basketball team will not advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship; two wrestlers head to nationals this weekend in Ohio
- Mens basketball advances to NCAA Championship Tournament (03/03/2003) MSOE mens basketball team upset defending Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) champions Lakeland College on Saturday by a score of 91-87 to win the conference championship. The MSOE Raiders advance to the NCAA III Championship Tournament where they will take on UW-Oshkosh Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
- Wrestlers take first and second in NCAA regional wrestling tournament (02/25/2003) Wrestler Matt Schoenherr (Tomahawk, Wis.) won the 285-pound weight class championship of the NCAA Division III regional wrestling tournament and 197-pounder Matt Huset (Ridgeland, Wis.) was runner-up. They both move on the NCAA national tournament March 7 and 8 in Ada, Ohio.
- MSOE honors graduates, teachers at Winter 2003 Commencement (02/24/2003) Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) will celebrate its Winter 2003 Commencement 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee.
- Dont be left at the station during the 38th Train Time at MSOE (02/21/2003) Model railroad buffs, families and children will want to make tracks to MSOE campus March 8 and 9 for the 38th annual Train Time, featuring operating model railroads, vendors and displays.
- Information business leader to receive Commencement honors (02/21/2003) George Dalton, chairman of the board, CEO and founder of Call_Solutions.com Inc., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business and Economics degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) at the universitys Winter Commencement March 1.
- Longtime MSOE supporter Dr. I. A. Rader dies (02/19/2003) MSOE was saddened to learn of the death of Dr. I. Andrew (Tiny) Rader, a long-time MSOE supporter, Regent Emeritus and the man for whom MSOEs Rader School of Business is named.
- Minority high school students to explore engineering at MSOE Wraps-up National Engineers Week (02/19/2003) Milwaukee area minority high school students will explore MSOE's laboratories and learn about engineering careers Saturday, Feb. 22. The event wraps up National Engineers Week (Feb. 16-22).
- MSOE inducts nine members into Athletic Hall of Fame (02/14/2003) A group of nine alumni and university supporters were inducted into MSOEs Athletic Hall of Fame Feb. 15 as part of MSOEs Centennial celebration.
- High school students test mettle at regional math and science bowl (02/12/2003) Results are in from the regional Science Bowl held Feb. 8 at MSOE. Teams from 22 Wisconsin and Illinois high schools competed in this challenging Jeopardy-style competition.
- MSOE soccer player named to CoSIDA Academic All-American Team (02/06/2003) MSOE soccer player Rick Brooks was named a District Team member of the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Soccer Team. The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors Of America (CoSIDA).
- MSOE hockey's Shipley puts name in MCHA record book (02/04/2003) Freshman hockey player ties single game record for assists in MCHA.
- Wrestlers win tournament championship Raiders finish in 7th place (02/04/2003) Wrestlers Matt Huset and Matt Schoenherr continued their winning ways as each wins the the Al Hanke Invitational.
- MSOE names new General Studies chairman (01/20/2003) Dr. R. David Kent has been named the new chairman of the General Studies Department at Milwaukee School of Engineering.
- MSOE kicks off yearlong centennial celebration (01/06/2003) While Monday, Jan. 6 marks a new day in Wisconsin state government, folks at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) are celebrating another milestone MSOE turns 100 this year and the university is kicking off a yearlong celebration.
