Imas will shape and implement the rAIder Initiative—MSOE’s comprehensive strategic effort to incorporate applied AI tools and practices across the university. She is also focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, curriculum, and pedagogy along with personalized student learning and promoting ethical use of applied AI on campus.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Imas take on this pivotal role,” said Dr. Eric Baumgartner, executive vice president of academics at MSOE. “Her deep experience with the use of AI in her teaching practices and biomedical research, along with her extensive academic and industry experience, positions her perfectly to lead the university’s applied AI initiatives and ensure that MSOE remains at the cutting edge of AI integration in education.”

Imas brings a wealth of experience to this new role. She has been a faculty member in the Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering Department at MSOE since 2008. Her expertise includes biomedical digital signal processing, medical imaging, and advanced imaging applications for neurology, cardiology, and oncology. In addition to her academic role, Imas previously worked as a product manager for GE Healthcare and is the founder and CEO of iBioTekk LLC, where she consults on algorithm and product development for neurodiagnostic EEG and other advanced imaging applications.

Imas holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Functional Imaging from Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from MSOE. Her research interests span traumatic brain injury, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and anesthesia monitoring. She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and holds five patents in medical imaging and diagnostic technologies. Imas is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Society for Engineering Education and the Biomedical Engineering Society.
