Framing Wisco to debut interactive art installations in urban green spaces
A collaborative endeavor by MSOE, JP Cullen Construction, Kowalske Kitchen & Bath, Milwaukee Parks Foundation, Milwaukee County Parks, Knight Barry Title, Forward 48, Hoan Group, Joy Engine, Visit Milwaukee, and Light the Hoan.
Framing Wisco is thrilled to announce its innovative initiative launching this month in Milwaukee – transforming urban, green spaces into interactive art installations. This project is designed to activate public spaces through creative structures that inspire visitors to pause, take photographs, and appreciate the beauty of their surroundings. These art installations will be strategically placed to highlight scenic landscapes throughout our state, debuting right here in Milwaukee – Wisconsin’s largest city.
This project aims to inspire people to connect with their environment in fresh and meaningful ways. Framing Wisco is more than a photo op; it’s about merging the natural and urban aspects of Wisconsin to create a cohesive and engaging experience. Each installation highlights Milwaukee’s scenic beauty and urban charm, providing unique, picturesque moments that captivate both locals and tourists.
The Framing Wisco project is a collaborative endeavor involving Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), JP Cullen Construction, Kowalske Kitchen & Bath, Milwaukee Parks Foundation, Milwaukee County Parks, Knight Barry Title, Forward 48, Hoan Group, Joy Engine, and Light the Hoan. This partnership brings together expertise in education, community engagement, and creative design to bring the vision of Framing Wisco to life. The CREATE Institute at MSOE played a pivotal role, with students participating in an experiential learning project to design the frames for the Milwaukee locations.
“We are proud to partner with business and community organizations for initiatives like Framing Wisco,” said Dr. John Walz, MSOE president. “Through projects like this, our students develop what we call ‘The MSOE Mindset’ and they become empowered to lead flourishing and productive lives as key contributors to their communities. Milwaukee and Wisconsin are fortunate to have vibrant park systems and Framing Wisco is an exciting way for locals and tourists to engage with their surroundings.”
Following the soft launch of Framing Wisco’s first installation at Bradford Beach in early July, Framing Wisco will be hosting a ribbon cutting during Joy Engine’s ArtBlaze on the Beach to unveil its newest installation at South Shore Park on Wednesday, July 31 at 2:00 PM. Later in the evening, professional photographer Erin Lynne Photo will be onsite from 5:00 to 7:00 PM to capture photos of community members exploring the newly installed frame at South Shore Park.
“Milwaukee Parks Foundation is thrilled to support Framing Wisco's innovative initiative. This project aligns perfectly with our mission to collectively steward a thriving park system for all. These installations encourage residents and visitors to explore, appreciate, and interact with our beloved Milwaukee County Parks,” said Rebecca Stoner, Executive Director of the Milwaukee Parks Foundation.
As Framing Wisco continues to expand, it aims to initiate similar activations in other areas across our state, becoming must-visit landmarks throughout Wisconsin.
