Groundbreaking set for MSOE Raiders Stadium in Glendale, Wis.
Baseball fever is running high in Milwaukee! MSOE is excited to announce that its baseball team soon will have a new stadium to call home. The university recently finalized an agreement with the Nicolet High School District and City of Glendale to construct MSOE Raiders Stadium at Maslowski Park, which is about eight miles north of MSOE. In addition, the partnership also allows MSOE students access to other athletic facilities at Nicolet High School, such as the swimming pool and tennis courts.
A ceremonial groundbreaking for MSOE Raiders Stadium will be held Monday, Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Maslowski Park, 2200 W. Bender Rd., in Glendale. Officials from the City of Glendale, MSOE, Nicolet and both schools’ baseball teams will be in attendance. Preliminary work has already begun at the site, and major construction will begin within a month. The project is slated to be complete in Spring 2019.
The new stadium, funded primarily by a gift from Dr. Kathleen Ruehlow ’72, MSOE Regent, will serve as the official home to MSOE’s baseball team and the Nicolet High School baseball team. Dr. Alan Ruud ’69, MSOE Regent, and Catalyst Construction are also supporting this project. It will feature a synthetic turf baseball field, dugouts, lights, a press box and wrap-around seating from first to third base for more than 300 spectators.
“Thank you to Kathleen Ruehlow, Alan Ruud and Catalyst Construction for their help in making MSOE Raiders Stadium become a reality. I believe it is important that we continue to offer our students access to activities and opportunities that provide a well-rounded college experience,” said Dr. John Walz, MSOE president. “This is a great example of a public/private partnership that benefits students of all ages as well as the surrounding community.”
“This partnership with MSOE will provide a new home for the Nicolet Boys Baseball team as part of our ongoing process to improve our athletic facilities,” said Dr. Robert Kobylski, Superintendent of the Nicolet High School District. “The District is proud to work with MSOE and the City of Glendale to maximize the full potential of Maslowski Park that will allow residents, students, parents and extended families to enjoy recreational activities and community events for years to come.”
