This October will mark 10 years since the Grohmann Museum opened its doors to Milwaukee and the world. The museum’s collection has nearly doubled in size since then and now totals more than 1,300 paintings, sculptures and photographs. In honor of the occasion, more than 30 paintings have been selected as highlights from the permanent collection for the Masterworks exhibition, on display Sept. 8 through Dec. 29.

The exhibition features a unique self-guided tour, following “collection spotlights” – special commentary on special pieces – handpicked from the museum’s vast collection of the art of industry, engineering and human achievement.

The 10th anniversary celebration continues throughout the fall season with a series of Grand Tours with museum staff along with a variety of special events, including the Lost Arts Festival on Sept. 30, and a Gallery Night Open House from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 20.

The Grohmann Museum, 1000 N. Broadway, is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for students and seniors; free for children under 12. MSOE students (with ID), alumni, faculty and staff are admitted free.
