MSOE students warm the community
Hundreds of hands, heads and hearts are a bit warmer this season thanks to the generosity of students living in MSOE’s residence halls. Members of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) organized a collection of more than 400 donated hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and more from their fellow students. Over the holiday break, RHA members Nick Brnot, Arandu Huerta and Anna Spaude delivered the goods to Repairers of the Breach, the only daytime refuge and resource center for homeless adults in the Greater Milwaukee area.
Repairers of the Breach is also one of the very few emergency “warming rooms” in Milwaukee. It normally isn’t an overnight shelter, but when temperatures fall below 10 degrees or the wind chill dips to -10 degrees, the facility opens as an emergency overnight shelter.
Each year RHA organizes similar initiatives and partners with the Office of Servant-Leadership to find organizations to support.
