Shubham Daler ’19, ’24 is originally from Chandigarh, Punjab, India and enrolled in a dual program where he spent two years at the Manipal Institute of Technology in India and then could choose where internationally he wanted to spend the next two years to complete his bachelor’s degree.

“Many of my friends were coming to the U.S.A. for its infinite opportunities, and I had classmates who praised MSOE's education, credit transfer system and rigorous curriculum,” said Daler. “Their positive experiences and recommendations influenced my decision to attend MSOE.”

At MSOE, he completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2019. Daler was hired at Wheels Now Inc. in 2019 and spent three years at the company as a design and sales engineer. He then decided to return to MSOE and earn his master’s in engineering in the fall of 2024 to enhance his skillset.

“Continuing my education and earning my master’s degree allowed me to further deepen my knowledge and skills in the field, enabling me to grow both personally and professionally.”

Navigating the job market as an international student came with many challenges, but with the support of MSOE’s Career Connections Center Daler was able to find a job at Ingeteam that has turned out to be a great fit.

“I am grateful for the invaluable support I received from the Career Connections Center. The assistance with my resume, interview preparation and access to various resources played a significant role in my success.”

At Ingeteam, Daler works as a field service engineer for the company’s solar PV inverters and BESS system team. He travels to customer sites where he performs and oversees commissioning activities, troubleshoots, and provides technical guidance and training. He credits his experience at MSOE to helping him find such early success in his career.

“The hands-on experience, technical skills and mechanical engineering knowledge I gained are very beneficial to my roles in commissioning and after-sales support. My research at the Fluid Power Institute honed my ability to analyze data and troubleshoot complex systems, which is crucial for resolving product issues and improving operational efficiency. Both my bachelor's and master's degrees from MSOE have helped me develop critical problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and proficiency in tools like MATLAB, SolidWorks, etc.”

Outside of work, Daler enjoys cooking, working out, walking, playing board games and exploring hiking trails and parks with his friends. He also plays badminton and practices yoga.

As students look to navigate the job market, Daler wants to share his advice as someone who recently just navigated the market himself.

“For all the aspiring candidates who are in the job market right now, the market is tough, and you may feel like giving up, especially international students who have limited time to be in the country after graduation. Please do not give up. Try everything, make connections and ask for help!”
