The start of the new academic year is always a busy time! This fall the School of Nursing welcomed 20 freshman, 12 transfer, 12 Accelerated Second Degree and three graduate students. We are excited to assist them as they begin their journey to becoming excellent practitioners and leaders.

This year, the faculty and staff in the School of Nursing will implement activities to advance initiatives in the SON Strategic Plan. Focus areas for the fall quarter include opportunities for more interprofessional education, program development, and student success. Our goal is to support MSOE in meeting the initiatives of its strategic plan and to live the mission and vision of the SON and the university. Updates will be available in future newsletters.

THANK YOU! to those who have volunteered in our facilitated labs. We have started training volunteers and we are excited to have them working with our nursing students to develop those basic skills needed in clinical. If you have not heard from me, or if you would like to volunteer, there is still time! Please contact me at sabel@msoe.edu.

We anticipate an exciting and productive academic year and always look for opportunities to get our alumni involved. If you are interested in participating in a particular activity or initiative, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you.

Warm Regards,

Carol Sabel
