The W. Wallace Cannon, Jr. Alumni Society, established in 2024, honors the legacy of W. Wallace Cannon, Jr., the first African American graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).
The society’s mission is to provide mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities that help students thrive during their academic journey. Alumni play an essential role in offering guidance, sharing experiences and helping students navigate the challenges they may encounter at MSOE. This support system is vital in promoting student retention as it creates an environment where students feel supported, connected and motivated to achieve their academic and professional goals.
In addition to these efforts, the society focuses on scholarships and career readiness programs that enhance the student experience and help foster a strong sense of community. By providing access to resources, the society empowers students to succeed during their time at MSOE and in their future careers.
The W. Wallace Cannon, Jr. Alumni Society is dedicated to ensuring access to education and supporting the next generation of African American engineers and professionals. Its efforts in mentorship and community building create a foundation for students to grow, overcome challenges and ultimately excel in their academic pursuits.
