Meet Our Co-Chairs

2024-2025 Faculty & Staff Campaign

Dr. Russ Meier | 2023-Present

I am the Program Director for Computer Engineering and a Professor of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering. I have been teaching at MSOE since 2001 and in higher education since 1992. I love my job because every day I help young people build their future through mentorship, training and support. I see them succeed, I see them fail and I see them get up again and keep trying. That’s powerful stuff—and it helps keep me grounded to how important education is to our shared future. I am excited to renew my standing as a co-chair in the 2024-2025 Faculty and Staff Campaign. I give back to MSOE because I strongly believe in our approach to career preparation. At MSOE we spend quality time with our students. Our personal mentorship provides a true apprenticeship experience through the long-lasting training relationships we build with our students over their four years. Our small class sizes, personalized grading and detailed mentorship in laboratories help our students excel and stand out in the crowded field of STEM graduates. It is why our alumni achieve the highest return on investment once they enter the profession. And it is why I work here rather than at another university. The MSOE Faculty and Staff Campaign isn't about dollars and cents. It’s about the sense of spirit formed when faculty and staff work collectively to make MSOE Extraordinary Together! The campaign is another aspect of our collective work, and I am excited to talk to you about how you can support MSOE in this way.

Emma Philipps | 2023-Present

I currently serve as the Director of Admissions here at MSOE. I am thrilled to renew my role as co-chair for the 2024-2025 Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign. I have worked at MSOE for seven years in a variety of roles in both the Admissions Office as well as the Career Connections Center. I have had the privilege of getting to know many of MSOE’s wonderful staff and faculty as well as many of our incredibly talented students. In my time at MSOE, I’ve come to realize how unique our institution is, and I truly believe in the outcome-focused education that is provided to students here. I give back to MSOE because I believe in its mission, values and most importantly its students. Every year I look forward to giving to the student organizations on campus knowing that my contribution can directly help our students be more successful and have an even more positive experience on campus, both inside and outside of the classroom. I really appreciate that the focus of MSOE’s Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign is not about how much you can give, but the act of giving in itself and supporting our institution in any way that you can! I am really looking forward to working with you all and am excited for this year’s Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign!
